What US brands tell us about sourcing overseas
American buyers are not short of suppliers — they are short of suppliers who make the landed cost predictable.
- “The landed cost was nothing like the quote once freight and duties were added.”
- “US customers returned half the drop because the sizing ran like an Asian fit.”
- “Amazon rejected the shipment because the polybags and labels were wrong.”
- “We missed the holiday window because production slipped three weeks.”
- “Nobody could give us Prop 65 or CPSIA documents when our buyer asked.”
- “QC issues were only discovered after the container had arrived in California.”
How we solve each one
| What you told us | What we do about it |
|---|---|
| Unpredictable landed cost | Quotes break out unit cost, packing, freight mode and Incoterm so you can model duty and landed cost before you commit. |
| Sizing that does not sell in the US | We cut to a US-graded spec chart you approve, with flat measurements recorded per size and per production run. |
| Marketplace rejections | FNSKU/barcode labels, polybag warning text, carton marks and assortments prepared to your marketplace requirements. |
| Missed retail windows | Production slots are booked against your in-store or launch date, with express air freight when a date is tight. |
| Missing compliance paperwork | CPSIA and Prop 65 documentation support, plus independent lab testing arranged on request through accredited labs. |
| Defects found after arrival | Pre-shipment AQL inspection with photo evidence before anything leaves the factory. |
How we work with US buyers
Depending on your channel, the programme changes — here is the usual split:
| Channel | What you usually need | How we support it |
|---|---|---|
| DTC / Shopify brand | Small launch runs, fast restocks, branded packaging | From 50 pcs per style, repeat orders from archived specs, custom polybags and inserts |
| Amazon / marketplace | FBA-ready packing, barcodes, tight restock cycles | Polybagging, FNSKU labels, carton marks, AQL report before dispatch |
| Wholesale / retail | Volume pricing, consistent reorders, hang tags | Volume tiers, sealed reference samples, woven labels and retail-ready packing |
| Team & promo | Deadline-driven delivery, simple decoration | Express production slots, DTG or embroidery, air freight to hit a fixed date |
| Kids & licensed | CPSIA-aware production, testing documentation | Compliance-aware construction, testing coordination and traceable material records |
Tell us your channel and target retail price and we will propose fabric, packing and freight that protect your margin after duty.

Pricing, MOQ and how to bring your cost down
For US buyers the number that matters is landed cost per unit. These are the levers we quote transparently:
| Cost factor | How it moves your price |
|---|---|
| Unit cost | Fabric, decoration and trims; we quote per-piece with volume tiers. |
| Packing | Polybags, barcode labels, inserts and carton specs are separate line items. |
| Freight mode | Air freight protects a launch date; sea freight protects margin on larger runs. |
| Duty & tariffs | We confirm the Incoterm and the declared value documentation your broker needs. |
| Inspection | A small cost against a rejected shipment or a damaged listing. |

A written schedule and air option keep retail and holiday windows intact.
Fewer returns
US-graded measurements reduce size-driven returns that eat DTC margin.

Manufacturing for US Brands — frequently asked questions
How do you ship to the USA?
Express courier takes about 5–8 days, air freight 8–12 days and sea freight 25–35 days to US West or East Coast ports. We quote DDP or FOB depending on how your broker and 3PL are set up.
Can you produce to US sizing?
Yes. We cut to a US-graded spec chart that you approve before production, with flat measurements recorded for each size on every run.
Do you provide CPSIA or Prop 65 documentation?
We support the documentation process — material records, spec sheets and independent lab testing arranged on request through accredited labs. Tell us which state or federal requirement your buyer is asking about.
Can you pack for Amazon FBA?
Yes — polybagging, FNSKU or barcode labels, suffocation warning text, carton marks and assortments, with an AQL report before dispatch.
What is the minimum order for a US launch?
50 pieces per style and colour, and we will quote a smaller trial run when you are validating a new design.
How long does production take?
Sampling takes about 7–12 days and bulk production 20–35 days depending on complexity, plus inspection and freight transit.
Who pays the duty and tariffs?
That depends on the Incoterm we agree. We confirm the terms on the quote so you can calculate duty with your customs broker before you commit.
Can you handle repeat orders without re-sampling?
Yes. Your pattern card, fabric lot and print settings are archived, so reorders are faster and match the first run.
